Group: Reflection on Shoot

On Thursday 8th January, we did our first shoot in Tunbridge Wells high street. We were focusing on the scenes where the victim is walking through town and is getting stalked by the antagonist. We managed to get some footage of her walking through town and then arriving at a bus stop.

On shoot, Mel contributed by taking part in some of the filming as well as giving strict instructions to the actors about what they need to be doing.
Katie contributed by also taking part in the filming and bringing the props and organising the equipment.

We took our storyboard with us to remind us of the type of shots we wanted to do however, we realised we needed a lot more shots than what was on our storyboard and we had to adapt to the location we had. This meant we didn't do a lot of the shots originally planned on the storyboard as we realised they wouldn't work in the location.

What we thought worked well was the pull focus from the tree to Lizzie as she walks past as it looks effective and makes it interesting to watch.

The challenges we found on this particular shoot was the public getting in the way of our shots and getting the right angle to film in the compact mirror. We realised we needed to plan a lot more before going to the shoot as when we got there, we had to do a lot of on the spot thinking as we realised our locations weren't as good as we had hoped.

We will use this experience in our next shoot by making sure we know exactly what we are going to be filming and from watching back our clips we realised what shots worked and what didn't so we know what we need to re film and what needs to be added in.
